Our Story
Family Scramble:
Of course there are a lot of details between the 1940’s and present day but here is a brief history.
Double T Cattle had its humble beginnings through an exchange events transferring ownership of the family farm. My grandparents purchased the farm from my Great Uncle, (grandmother’s brother), in the early 1900’s, my uncle purchased it from my grandfather in 1980 and then a decade later my dad purchased it from my uncle.
During the years that my uncle owned the farm, we managed a cattle operation consisting mostly of Charolais, Black Angus and quarter horses as the Puzzle Creek brand. Unfortunately, we got lost in a series of droughts in the early 1980’s.
In 1989, the farmers and ranchers in the southeast, sent help to our friends, colleagues and fellow cattlemen in the western states during what is known now as the Northern Plains Drought. In 2003, we again helped, but in between the southeast suffered a devastating drought as well and although help came from the very people we had helped before, the market just couldn’t sustain and we fell with the market.
After my Dad purchased the family farm, I convinced him into starting the Double T brand. We raised competition horses and goats. Goats were bringing more money per pound on the hoof than beef, and they make good stall buddies for the horses.
The farm was sold outside the family in 2018 and the business was picked up again here in the Greater Charleston area.
Now the Double T Brand is with my wife, the “other T”, and she has brought much more to the brand.
Animal Husbandry, Woolery, Wine and more... we are growing and adding every day.
